As we begin a new year, I would like to reflect on the good that surrounds us at EMS. I am deeply grateful for all of the parents that visit our school. I am thankful for the faculty and staff that not only teach our students, feed them wholesome meals and keep their surroundings safe and clean. They also serve on committees, further their education through staff development, sponsor clubs and happily do whatever else they are called upon to do. I appreciate the students that come to school prepared to be a positive role model for the faculty and staff as well as the other students. Nothing can compare to the joy I feel when I get a special hello, smile, or hug from one of our students. The news would have us believe that the outlook for our future is dismal; I want to assure you that this is not the case. Step into our halls and see the pride our students take in keeping the building clean; look into the eyes of a student that has just successfully completed a difficult assignment or ask a teacher why they continue to teach. I believe that you will find that despite what goes on outside of school, we continue to instill hope for the future within these walls. Most of all, I am thankful for the opportunity that I have to be a part of education during this time of change and for the blessing of being surrounded by so many people who continue to care about others, not just academically, but physically, mentally, and socially. Please continue to support your student as we move into the second semester of the 2015-2016 school year.
